After a huge team effort, Rob Britton (CAN) finished off a spectacular week of racing by Team SmartStop to finish 10th overall on GC and the first non World Tour rider at the Amgen Tour of California.
In a week that has had it’s highs and lows for the team, Team SmartStop rode impressively to pull off a huge result at their Californian debut.
“The team had a good showing in a race that we never thought we could participate in twelve months ago. There are bigger and better things on the horizon.” stated Britton.
Congratulations to Team SmartStop and Rob for the outstanding performance! The team now sets their sights on the USA Professional Road and Time Trial National Championships in Chattanooga, Tennessee next weekend where they will be looking to defend Eric Marcotte’s national title. The team’s next major stage race will be August 3-9 at the Tour of Utah.
